After startling revelations that arrested #Occupy Milwaukee protester and Wisconsin Jobs Now! activist Austin Lee Thompson registered and voted in April 2011 using a Residence Inn hotel as his Wisconsin address, Media Trackers obtained exclusive documents on Monday shedding more light on Thompson’s residency questions.

On April 5, 2011, Austin Lee Thompson of 14250 Morning Mountain Way, Alpharetta, Georgia registered and voted in Wisconsin. Thompson listed 7275 N. Port Washington Rd, Apt. 122, Glendale, Wisconsin as his address. This is the address not of an apartment building, but a Residence Inn hotel. According to his registration form, Thompson’s proof of residence was simply “Residence Inn Marriott.”

Simply listing a hotel in Glendale as a proof of residence should not have been an acceptible proof of residence according to the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board. Thompson was still allowed to register and vote regardless. Back in April, Media Trackers conducted an investigation that revealed a number of abuses of same-day registration in Wisconsin’s April 5, spring election.

Further raising questions, the traffic citation Thompson received in Milwaukee County for speeding reveals that as of May 11, 2011, Thompson was still using a Georgia driver’s license and listed his address as 14250 Morning Mountain Way, Alpharetta, Georgia. Thompson was driving a 2011 Nissan Versa with Illinois license plate number X188468.

The revelations about Thompson’s residency, voting history, and political activity in Wisconsin are nothing but troubling. And they raise other questions that perhaps only a formal investigation could reveal.

Who paid for Thompson’s hotel room at the Residence Inn?

Were other out-out-state political activists staying at the Residence Inn, using it as an address to register to vote?

Who paid for the rental cars it appears Thompson was using?
