You may recognize Democratic mega-donor Tom Steyer from his personally funded TV ads that called for President Trump’s impeachment, but now his funds and focus have shifted to Wisconsin in an effort to help Democrats win the midterm elections. But just what does Steyer stand for?
According to Forbes.com Steyer’s net worth as of 4/10/18 is 1.61 billion dollars which was made in part by running and eventually selling his stake in hedge fund Farallon Capital. After selling, he switched his focus to politics and environmental issues, and according to CNN “pumped more than $160 million into Democratic politics through his NextGen America group in the last two election cycles.” Beyond funding political causes, Steyer founded NextGen America a group with an obviously liberal environmentalist mission statement:
NextGen America acts politically to prevent climate disaster, promote prosperity, and protect the fundamental rights of every American.
Since our founding as NextGen Climate in 2013, we’ve worked to fight climate change by advancing the transition to a clean energy economy. We’ve supported candidates who support climate action. We’ve fought to halt the Keystone XL pipeline and registered more than 1 million voters nationwide.
Now, the same values that drive our work on climate are under unprecedented attack from all directions. We’re proud to step up the fight for immigrant rights, affordable health care, prosperity, and equality.
Recently Steyer was in the spotlight for his personally funded television ad that called for president Trump’s impeachment, which gained attention from both Republicans and Democrats. While some Democrats supported the ad, CNN politics reported others have disagreed with Steyer such as House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, who have said “now is not the time for House Democrats to push for impeachment.”
“Through his youth organizing group NextGen Rising, Steyer is spending $30 million in 10 states, including Wisconsin, to help Democrats win in the midterm elections.”“He said the group plans to spend $2.5 million in Wisconsin, organizing on college campuses and in communities in a bid to target students. Another Steyer-financed group, For Our Future, is also organizing in the field and running digital ads.”
Extreme billionaire activist Tom Steyer is here today from California pushing impeachment & the rest of his Far-Left agenda. He's spending tens of millions of dollars already and we're a top target.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Steyer responded:
“The Republicans in this state, including Scott Walker, are nervous about the fact that they’ve done such a bad job. And I think they’re going to try to have to justify a poor record between now and Nov. 6.”
Steyer added that he believed the result “will be a nice end to Mr. Walker’s career.”
Those who follow politics closely are familiar with Steyer, but many voters are not. As an activist with substantial funding, it’s important to become familiar with the big Democratic donors like Steyer for their involvement in the upcoming elections.
