Comedian Chelsea Handler, who has recently injected herself into Wisconsin politics, did so again this week with a tweet of support for Democratic U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin. Handler’s tweet then prompted a twitter exchange between her and Baldwin’s Republican challenger, state Senator Leah Vukmir over the issue of equal pay for women.
During the Wisconsin Senate debate between Vukmir and Baldwin Monday night, the topic of gender pay equality was addressed. Vukmir contends Baldwin is hypocritical on the issue because an analysis shows women on Baldwin’s staff make 74 cents for every dollar men on her staff earn. Baldwin denied the claim.
After that exchange, Chelsea Handler tweeted her support of Tammy Baldwin saying, “For women looking to Vite(sic) for someone who wants them to have equal pay in WISCONSIN. @tammybaldwin is your woman.”
In response to Handler’s tweet in support of Baldwin, Vukmir fired back on Twitter calling Baldwin a hypocrite, “who pays women on her own staff only 74 cents on the dollar.”
Hey @ChelseaHandler, do some research before you tweet. Your beloved @TammyBaldwin is a hypocrite who pays women on her own staff only 74 cents on the dollar. That’s not equal pay. #wisen https://t.co/B42rAr4VqE

Handler is no stranger to supporting liberal causes. Media Trackers previously reported on her controversial tweet earlier this year against South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham.
“Holy, f–k f–k. I just [saw] the video of trumps bipartisan ‘meeting’ yesterday,” Handler tweeted. “Hey, @LindseyGrahamSC what kind of d–k sucking video do they have on you for you 2 be acting like this? Wouldn’t coming out be more honorable?”
A spokesman for the Vukmir campaign says their claim on Baldwin’s staff salaries is based on an analysis on staff salary data on Legistorm:https://www.legistorm.com/
