Bullock Holding Lead, NBC Calls Race

Campaigns

Democratic gubernatorial candidate and Attorney General Steve Bullock is holding a narrow lead over Republican candidate Rick Hill.

With only 78 percent of precincts fully reported, Bullock is leading Hill by just 8,766 votes, making the race too close to call for many news sources including the Associated Press.

NBC news declared Bullock the winner earlier this morning at 10:35, stating that with 99 percent of the votes having been counted, Bullock holds a 49-47 lead over Hill.

The projection comes despite the Secretary of State’s office reporting that many precincts in Flathead, Gallatin, Glacier, Missoula, Ravalli, Silver Bow, and Yellowstone counties have yet to fully report their results. The state’s results site also shows that many precincts in a few counties have yet to report any results.

Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Ron Vandevender has so far captured 3.69 percent of the state’s vote.
